The Tempest

Not Exactly Shooting For \”Miss Congeniality\”

It’s hard to say goodbye.

Last night, while watching the series finale of The West Wing, Steve reminded me of something…TV is a fickle mistress. It lures you into becoming an avid watcher of certain types of shows. Then, when you're good and hooked, series-go-bye-bye!!

Don't get me wrong, it's not as though TV is our life…but pretty fucking close to it!!!

Why do they have to keep taking the good shows away and replacing them with yet another version of CSI or Law & Order?!

Okay. We get it. People are getting killed on TV. Guess whodunit!!!!

And where the hell did Surface go??

In three days, we'll see the end of Will & Grace. Then there goes another night shot to hell.

Okay, let's take stock of timeslots we now have to fill without the TV:

Sunday – 7:00 PM (West Wing…Impeached)

Thursday – 7:00 PM (Will &Grace…"Out" on Thursday)

Friday – 10:00 PM (Bill Maher ended it's season until August!!)

Does anyone remember the HBO series Carnivale? Or Showtimes' series Dead Like Me? Steve and I became hooked on both of those and then – each having just completed it's second season – BOTH of them were yanked off the air. Carnivale had to go to make room for ROME (which, by the way, has also been cancelled). Dead Like Me was tossed for…hmmm…I don't know. We cancelled Showtime after that. All they had going for them was that and Queer As Folk…which Steve an I gave up on during the last season. Once we started calling it "Boring As Hell", we knew it was soon to be cancelled.

I hate TV.

Think I'll just start reading.

Except on Tuesdays at 7:00. That's when we watch Scrubs and My Name Is Earl.

And on Wednesday's at 8:00. That's when LOST is on.

And Fridays when Dr. Who is on SciFi.

And Sunday's at 8:00. Can't miss Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy.
